Welcome to Antiques Hunt!
March 25, 2010
Welcome to AntiquesHunt.com, my online record of my attempt to buy and sell antiques on eBay and to make as much money as possible from a start of just £300!
I decided to try this out after watching a new BBC TV show called “Antiques Road Trip”, partly because I thought that it would provide a more realistic idea of whether it’s possible to make money by buying antiques from dealers and selling them on again at auction, but also because I’ve wanted to test my antiques skills for some time.
You see back in 2006 I did have my own (rather large) stroke of luck when I bought a little porcelain cream jug off eBay for £100 and sold it for £46,800 at Bonhams in London!
This was a result of my trawling through page after page of eBay auctions looking for bargains, and amazingly even though I hit the antiques jackpot on that one, I haven’t really looked at eBay since.
I have often wondered though if I could find enough items on eBay to buy and sell to make a decent amount of money, and whether I could build up a pot of money to buy and sell some more significant antiques, and since the BBC were doing the same thing on the TV, I thought I’d have a go online and document it all here for you all to see.
Now, buying online is fraught with problems – you can’t handle something to see if it’s “right”, blurry pictures can deliberately mislead you, you haven’t a clue who you’re dealing with, and it’s easy to make mistakes – so I might well end up losing my £300 ver yquickly if I’m not careful!
Anyway, I hope to make this journey interesting, entertaining, possibly enlightening, and hopefully profitable, and I hope that you decide to join me along the way!
