Antique Derby Tureen

Although this is antique ceramics yet again, I just had to buy it!

It cost me £175 + £5 postage, the auction details are below:

Described as antique Derby c.1765, I’ve had one of these before and it was definitely by Bow, around the same date.

Now of course this could be Derby, since all of the factories just outright copied each other back then, since there were no copyright laws, but the slight blurring of the painting on this reminds me exactly of my Bow tureen – so I’ve got my fingers crossed for when it arrives since the last one I had sold for £390 on eBay!

That would be double my money after costs, so I hope this will do the business for me.

I’m not 100% sure what I’ll do with this yet. If it’s Bow then it’ll probably go back on eBay, but if it’s Derby then it might go into a local auctioneers antiques auction in early June – since I know that they have a very serious collector of antique Derby there – how lucky is that?
